What should my family do if a death occurs out of town?
If a death occurs out of town, call Bitner Family Funeral Homes as soon as possible. Because we are skilled in handling out of town deaths, we can quickly and easily transport your loved one to the Harrisburg area.
It is much less expensive to involve only one funeral home in final arrangements. Therefore, if you intend to use Bitner Family Funeral Homes for services, you should call us first. We will handle all the transportation arrangements and file the proper legal documents.
Should children attend a funeral service or viewing?
Yes, children should be a part of the family's grieving process. After the death of a loved one, children need resolution just as much as adults. However, it’s important to remember that each child will view and react to death differently depending on their personality, age and stage of development.
If you are struggling to help your child through the grieving process, feel free to call us to for guidance and support. We also have a lending library at the funeral home where you can read more about children and grieving and many other topics.
